Iceland

We went to Iceland in May 2025 and it was spectacular. We drove the Ring Road over an eight day period. Driving that road gave us so many different views of Iceland. The photos below provide a hint of what we saw. As you'll see, we saw a lot of waterfalls in Iceland. Most of them were on a single hike up river from Skogafoss, where we saw seven in addition to Skogafoss. There were probably more if we would have continued further up river, but it was getting late. It was a good thing we did it that first evening after dinner as it rained and there were low lying clouds then next morning.

The names of places in Iceland were very difficult to pronounce and there were few I would get right if I could even remember the entire name. Typically I would just use the first initial; such as, "M Canyon" or "F Canyon". We did get used to some of the words such as reyk (smoke), vik (bay), fell (mountain), foss (waterfall), vatn (lake), jokul (glacier).
